Welcome to My Community Page! Thank you for spending this time with me. I truly believe that we are all called to serve a higher purpose than ourselves. Individually, we can only do so much. Together, we can make a tremendous positive impact in the lives of others.

"The Power of Partnership at Work!"

Me and Mayor Sam Ferreri

In 2002 I felt a call from God to step outside of my comfort zone to help hurting people in my community. I wasn’t sure what that fully meant, at first. I only knew that I had to reach out to those in pain in order to help them to regain their dignity, and to find their way to a more blessed life.

Up until that point, I had always been a business executive or an entrepreneur. Outside of my involvement in my church, I had never run a community organization or any other group involved in community work. The only thing I knew was that I was called to:

Help people locate employment

Provide job training if needed

Offer food if they were hungry

Give clothes if they were without

Help women, children and families restore their dignity

With the help of my husband, my pastor and a small group of friends, we started a food pantry from a small closet in the back of our church. Within a short period of time, it was clear that God had bigger plans.

We outgrew our space and launched into the community as Oasis Compassion Agency. The Oasis was formed as a nonprofit organization. Its mission was to provide hope and healing through job assistance programs, Biblical counseling, a food pantry and a women’s empowerment center.

Since those early days in that small closet, Oasis has served tens of thousands of individuals. It has fed countless families, and provided jobs and job training for hundreds. More than everything else, it’s restored hope for many who lost it along the way.

"It is more blessed to give than it is to receive."

We’ve seen the homeless find employment and a new way of life. We’ve been there as battered women regained their future. We’ve had the joy of seeing families saved, and too many miracles to mention.

I’ve been very fortunate in life. I’ve been gifted with opportunities, a wonderful family, and good health. I’ve also enjoyed a vibrant relationship with God, and the gift of life itself. But one of my greatest gifts has been the gift of giving back.

I love to see ordinary people doing extraordinary things. I love to see us come together as a community to think bigger than our individual lives. When we collectively break the mold, we are able to make a lasting contribution in our community.

Oasis has been blessed by local employees organizing food drives. Our volunteers petition their companies, trusts and foundations on our behalf. They enlist Trade Associations to organize toiletry and toy drives for our women and children.

It’s wonderful to see young people engage their neighbors on behalf of our work with the poor. Churches come together despite denominational differences to affect positive change. Past recipients of our services engage friends and relatives to donate to our cause. Many, who are helped, become volunteers themselves!

Each case I mentioned started with ONE person.

It doesn’t matter who you are, how old, what color or size. All it takes is acting on an idea. Take one step forward and I guarantee you the fire will spread. You were made to serve.

The Lord was truly right when he said, “It is more blessed to give, than to receive.” If you would like some information on how you can start or grow your own nonprofit organization in your community, please click the box below.
